Western Washington Chapter
of the
International Codes Council
Look to this page for information from the Chapter, to view the previous meeting minutes, and for any other information including where to send your code questions and upcoming classes and Chapter social events.
We would like to extend an invitation to those of you who would like to take part in the Chapter. To become a member, come to a meeting and ask any of the officers for a Membership Form. The annual membership fees are only $10.00. If you have any questions regarding membership, contact David McCurdy.
What are your code questions? This year we expect the monthly meeting to be better and more informative than ever before. To meet this lofty goal we need input from members. We ask members to become involved. If you have a code topic or meeting suggestion you'd like to see addressed, forward them to
Marc Schoenberg.

Outreach Program
The Chapter - as always - is looking for ways to help the community. Althought the suggestion below is too late to implement before this Thanksgiving holiday, we should consider what else might be done to make the holiday a little happier for those less fortunate. In an email to the Chapter Secretary, Harry Hardey (City of Kent) wrote:
If members have any other suggestions that would help make a difference to the community, please send them to James Frank.
"James,
I will offer a few suggestions. Since both organizations are non-profits, there is an incentive to receive a tax credit when a donation is made. We would need to see how the applicant can receive this. A check written to NW Harvest would be a receipt, but cash donations are another matter. When I was collecting for one of the local food banks, they had a form we could fill out for the donation amount. Smaller donations would be an honor system that the donator is responsible for. Another item is since our members work for a number of different jurisdictions; the part about giving to the donation to the Building Official or city clerk could create some confusion. An option maybe to have our bank (or another bank) set up a fund where donations could be received at their branches. The proposed flyer could have this information, maybe a blank form where the applicant could write in his contact information and then directions on where to send the money (account number or some other identifying means for the bank). If there was more time, a collection box set up in the permit centers would be good. This could be expanded to lumber yards, etc. One idea would be to get the five gallon water bottles, put our flyer on them and set up in a secure setting (like the permit center). With that I had better get back to work.
Thanks
Harry"
